| SPX Corp. offers flow technology, test and measurement, thermal equipment and services, and industrial products and services primarily in the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. It operates in four segments: Flow Technology, Test and Measurement, Thermal Equipment and Services, and Industrial Products and Services. The Flow Technology segment manufactures and sells products and solutions for processing or transporting fluids, and products for heat transfer applications and airflow treatment systems. This segment offers high-integrity pumps, valves, fluid mixers, agitators, metering systems, filters, and dehydration equipment for the sanitary food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing, general industrial, chemical processing, oil and gas processing, power generation, and mining markets. The Test and Measurement segment provides test and measurement products, such as specialty diagnostic service tools, fare collection boxes, portable cable and pipe locators, and vibration testing equipment for the transportation, defense, telecommunications, and utility industries. The Thermal Equipment and Services segment manufactures cooling, heating, and ventilation products. It offers dry, wet, and hybrid cooling systems; cooling towers; air-cooled condensers; and hydronic, and heating and ventilation products for the power generation and residential markets. This segment also provides thermal components and engineered services. The Industrial Products and Services segment offers power systems, industrial tools and hydraulic units, filters, and precision machine components for the automotive and aerospace industries. SPX has a joint venture with Emerson Electric Co., which manufactures electrical fittings, hazardous location lighting, and power conditioning products. The company was founded in 1911 as The Piston Ring Company and changed its name to Sealed Power Corporation in 1931 and then to SPX Corp. in 1988. SPX Corporation is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. |
