| SandRidge Energy, Inc. operates as an oil and gas company in the United States. The company operates through four segments: Exploration and Production, Drilling and Oil Field Services, Midstream Gas Services, and CO2 and Tertiary Oil Recovery. The Exploration and Production segment explores, develops, and produces oil and natural gas reserves in west Texas and the Piceance basin, as well as the Arkoma and Anadarko basins. As of September 30, 2005, its estimated proved reserves were 272 billion cubic feet equivalent. It has approximately an 83% average working interest in the Pinon Field with approximately 245,000 net acres of land in the West Texas Overthrust Belt. The Drilling and Oil Field Services segment drills wells for its own account, and for other oil and natural gas companies, primarily in the west Texas region. It also offers oil field services that include providing pulling units, mud logging, trucking, rental tools, location and road construction, roustabout services to the company and to third-parties. The Midstream Gas Services segment provides gathering, compression, processing, and treating services of natural gas in the TransPecos region of west Texas and the Piceance basin. The CO2 and Tertiary Oil Recovery segment gathers CO2 from natural gas treatment plants located in the Delaware and Val Verde Basins of west Texas. It treats and transports CO2 for use in the company's and third-parties' tertiary oil recovery operations. The company was founded in 1984. It was formerly known as Riata Energy, Inc. and changed its name to SandRidge Energy, Inc. in September 2006. SandRidge Energy is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. |
