| Range Resources Corporation engages in the exploration, development, and acquisition of oil and gas properties primarily in the southwestern, Appalachian, and Gulf Coast regions of the United States. Its operations in the southwestern region are conducted in the Barnett Shale of north central Texas, the Permian basin of west Texas and eastern New Mexico, and the east Texas basin, as well as in the Texas Panhandle and the Anadarko Basin of western Oklahoma. The company's operations in the Appalachian region are conducted in the northeastern United States principally in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, and Virginia. Range Resources Corporation's Gulf Coast operations are located onshore in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, as well as in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The company sells gas to utilities, marketing companies, and industrial users. It owns approximately 4,900 miles of gas gathering pipelines in Appalachia, which transport gas to transmission lines, and directly to end-users and interstate pipelines. As of December 31, 2006, the company had total estimated proved developed and undeveloped reserves of approximately 1,435,978 million cubic feet of natural gas, and approximately 53,707 thousand barrels of oil and natural gas liquids. It also had net working interests in 11,396 oil and gas producing wells, as of the above date. The company was founded in 1975. It was formerly known as Lomak Petroleum, Inc. and changed its name to Range Resources Corporation in 1998. The company is based in Fort Worth, Texas. |
