| RLI Corp., through its subsidiaries, underwrites property and casualty insurance. The company operates in three segments: Property, Casualty, and Surety. The Property segment offers commercial and construction coverage consisting of excess and surplus lines, and specialty insurance, such as fire and earthquake, as well as for commercial and industrial risks, such as office buildings; ocean marine coverages, including hull, cargo, and protection and indemnity insurance; and homeowners and dwelling fire insurance. The Casualty segment provides general liability coverage consisting coverage for third party liability of commercial insureds; commercial and personal umbrella liability; coverages, such as directors' and officers' liability, and other miscellaneous professional liability; special program coverages that include combination of commercial property, general liability, inland marine, and crime; transportation insurance; and other programs, including deductible buy-back, at-home business, and employer's excess indemnity. The Surety segment offers coverage for individuals, contractors, small business owners, small and large corporations, and businesses operating in the energy, petrochemical, and refining industries, as well as miscellaneous and contract surety bonds, including fidelity and court sureties. The company distributes its products through branch offices to wholesale and retail brokers, as well as through independent agents and e-commerce channels throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. RLI Corp. was founded in 1965 and is headquartered in Peoria, Illinois. |
