| Western Asset Emerging Markets Debt Fund Inc. is a closed ended fixed income mutual fund launched and managed by Legg Mason Partners Fund Advisor, LLC. It is co-managed by Western Asset Management Company and Western Asset Management Company Limited. The fund invests in the fixed income emerging markets across the globe. It invests in U.S. dollar and non-dollar denominated debt securities including debt obligations issued or guaranteed by foreign national, provincial, state, municipal, or other governments with taxing authority, or by their agencies or instrumentalities, including Brady Bonds, debt obligations of supranational entities, debt obligations and other fixed-income securities of foreign corporate issuers, debt obligations of U.S. corporate issuers, and corporate debt securities issued by corporations that generate significant profits from emerging market countries. The fund benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the JPMorgan Emerging Markets Bond Index Global Index. It was formerly known as Salomon Brothers Emerging Markets Debt Fund Inc. Western Asset Emerging Markets Debt Fund Inc. was formed on April 16, 2003 and is domiciled in the United States. |
