| The Brink's Company, through its subsidiaries, Brink's, Incorporated (Brink's) and Brink's Home Security, Inc. (BHS), provides transportation and cash logistics services in North America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Brink's offers transportation and logistics management services for cash and valuables. These services include armored car transportation; automated teller machine replenishment and servicing; currency, deposit processing, and cash management services; deploying and servicing safes and safe control devices; coin sorting and wrapping; integrated check and cash processing services; arranging the secure transportation of valuables; transporting, storing, and destroying sensitive information; and guarding services, including airport security. Its customers include banks; retail and other commercial businesses; investment banking and brokerage firms; and government agencies, such as a country's central bank. BHS engages in the business of marketing, selling, installing, servicing, and monitoring electronic security systems primarily in owner-occupied, single-family residences, and to a lesser extent, in commercial locations and multifamily housing. It monitors signals originating from alarm systems, which can be designed to detect burglary, fire, medical, and environmental conditions. As of December 31, 2006, BHS had approximately 1,125,000 systems under monitoring contracts. The Brink's Company was founded in 1838 and is based in Richmond, Virginia. |
