It also owns 85% working interests in 377 sections or 241,280 gross acres of oil sands mineral rights outside of the McKay Block in the Athabasca oil sands of Alberta. The company was formerly known as Southern Pacific Development Corp. and changed its name to Southern Pacific Resource Corp. in March 2006. Southern Pacific Resource Corp. was incorporated in 1953 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
