For love of Switzerland
Among his stellar achievements, Yash Raj Chopra made Switzerland the go-to destination for Bollywood. Well before many Indians had even boarded an aircraft, they were transported to scenic vistas of flower-carpeted gardens, glaciers and snowfields. Chopra’s love affair with the picture-postcard European nation of sunny alpine pastures, crystal blue lakes and snow-crested mountains translated to several memorable sequences. He was even honoured by the Swiss Embassy with the title Ambassador of Interlaken. A lake and a train were named after him.
