Here's how the world's biggest airport will look

The world's biggest airport is set to open in Beijing around October 2017, according to media reports. Beijing Daxing International Airport or Daxing World International Airport or Beijing Capital (Second) International Airport is to be built in Daxing, a rural area 46 km south of Tiananmen Square, Beijing's political center. The new airport is expected to serve Tianjin and Hebei province as well as Beijing. The airport will cover an area of 2,680 hectares. It would replace Beijing Capital International Airport (which had 78 million passengers in 2011, second most in the world) as the main airport of Beijing and the largest in China. Early media reports suggested that there could be up to 9 runways: 8 runways for civil aviation plus one runway dedicated to military usage. Construction for the new airport is projected to begin in late 2012. The programmed completion date for the new airport is October 2017. The airport is planned to be able to handle 120 to 200 million passengers a year, which, if capacity were fully used, would make it the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic, surpassing Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Speaking of airports and their capacity, here’s looking at the busiest airports in India. As per the Ministry of Tourism, India in the first half of 2012, has witnessed 3.2 million foreign arrivals and 55.9 million air arrivals in India during the first quarter of 2012.

Chennai stands third with 7.6 million air arrivals and the Anna International Airport witnessed an increase in total arrivals by 3 percent over the January-June year on year. Bangalore finished closely behind with 7.2 million air arrivals. The Bengaluru International Airport recorded an increase of 1 percent in total arrivals in first quarter 2012 over the corresponding 2011 quarter and approximately 12 percent higher over the arrival in 2010. Last but not the least, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Hyderabad International Airport witnessed 3.3 million air arrivals, an increase of 6 percent in total arrivals in first quarter 2012 over same time last year.
