The world's cities, in long exposures

In the series 8 Seconds, Montreal photographer Nicolas Ruel's images of cities fuse the real with the surreal. Ruel uses an eight-second exposure to point the camera in different directions while the shutter is open. The result is a picture of a city taken from multiple perspectives. So far, Ruel has photographed 50 cities in 30 countries over five years.
