Lower-Jaw Implant

In June 2012, a 3D-printed lower jaw was fitted to an 83-year-old woman in Netherlands. The implant was built by LayerWise, a Belgium manufacturer, based on research from the Biomedical Research Institute at Hasselt University in Belgium. The implant was made with titanium powder. The doctors carried out the procedure claimed that it was the first operation of this kind in the world.

Chocolate

FabCafe in Tokyo offered a special service for Valentine's day. For a fee, the company would take a 3D scan of your face using a BodyScan machine, capturing one's facial features and expression, then output the data as a 3D model, then in turn made into a silicon mold. Custom chocolate pieces are created with the mold.

Car

URBEE was first car with all its body parts printed with 3D printers; the first prototype was completed this year. The designers are currently working on the second-prototype, aiming to have the new model ready for demonstration in 2015. The second vehicle will be a 2 passengers car with all its interior and exterior parts created with 3D-printers. The vehicle will run on bio-fuel, and able to travel from New York to San Francisco in 2 days with 10 gallons of fuel.

Biscuits Made of Insects

Designer Susana Soares looks through a 3D printer that makes biscuits from flour made from insects at the Wellcome Collection in London. The exhibition of Illuminated room-high insect traps, dramatic Iight projections of creepy crawlies and 3D printing of food made from bugs is a new installation called Insects au Gratin which explores the benefits of eating bugs, as part of a new season called Who's the Pest?

Vinyl Record

Makerbot offered a tool for users to convert their audio files into printable waveforms. It is now possible to print vinyl records at home.

Bespoke Innovations started offering service to create individually customized prostheses with the use of 3D printing.

Christmas Cookies

Ralf Holleis of the Designlab Coburg printed Christmas cookies with 3D modeling software and printer modified with cookie dough-filled syringe.

Bikini

Continuum, a New York City based fashion label/experimental design lab created a completely 3D-printed bikini. The article was made out of Nylon and parts were snapped together without any sewing.

Ears For Transplant

The 3D printed "scaffolding" for replacement ears, noses and other body parts sit on a bench in a laboratory at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. The university is experimenting with various ways to create replacement organs for human implantation, from altering animal parts to building them from scratch with a patient's own cells.

Cody Wilson, a 25-year-old University of Texas law student and founder of the non-profit group Defense Distributed has create the world’s first entirely 3D-printable handgun.

Gown

Francis Bitonti Studio Studio collaborated with Michael Schmidt Studios and Shapeways to create a fully articulated 3D printed gown designed specifically for Dita Von Teese. The gown has nearly 3000 unique articulated joints and is adorned with over 12,000 Swarovski crystals.

Shoes

New Balance, the shoe manufacturer, adapted 3D printing to create customized athletic shoes.

Bacon

Shapeways 3D printers came up with a way to print bacon, bacon mobius strip to be precise.

Air Plane Engine

Stratasys says it produced the world's first full-scale 3D model of a turbo-prop aircraft engine using 3D printing and 3D production systems. The entire assembly, including moving gears, was produced with FDM technology.

For $4,000, Japanese company REAL-f will create a detailed replica of your face and turn it into a mask by using 3D scanning and printing.
