Toronto based Non-Executive Director, Mr Robin Dunbar, has advised the Board of Western Areas (ASX:WSA) that as part of the continued Board refresh process he will retire from the Board on 15 January 2015. This will coincide with Mr Dunbar's tenth year on the Board.

The Western Areas' Board sincerely thanks Mr Dunbar for his contributions over many years. Western Areas Chairman, Mr Ian Macliver, acknowledged the significant contribution Mr Dunbar had made to the Company. "Robin has been a director of Western Areas for a significant period and has played a vital role in the Company, through helping navigate the early stages of a junior explorer with production aspirations, to now a reliable low cost nickel producer operating two of the world's highest grade nickel mines" Mr Macliver said.

The Board at this point in time does not anticipate replacing Mr Dunbar. Consequently the Board will now comprise of seven directors, four of which are independent.
