Initial Reconnaissance Drilling Campaign at Renaissance Gold?s Wood Hills South Gold Project, Nevada Intersects Significant Gold Mineralization

White Rock, British Columbia CANADA, February 06, 2012 /FSC/ - Renaissance Gold Inc. (REN - TSX), ("RenGold") is pleased to announce assay results for the first ten holes of a planned twenty hole reverse circulation reconnaissance drilling program from the 100 sq km Wood Hills South gold project, Elko County, Nevada. The drilling was carried out by our partner NuLegacy Gold Corp. (NUG:TSXV) in late 2011 and was designed to test the bedrock beneath the shallow pediment cover. The property is 8 miles southwest of the Pequop Gold District and has similar Carlin-style geochemistry in isolated exposures adjacent to broad areas of shallow pediment cover.

Drill locations on the pediment were determined using geophysics and geochemistry.  This included 31,000 meters of induced polarization and resistivity surveys, gravity surveys, and 70,000 meters of coincident soil sampling surveys completed by NuLegacy during the past year's preparatory exploration programs. The surveys indicated broken blocks that were likely limestone and dolomite (carbonates) under a thin pediment gravel cover. Coincident soil sampling programs returned anomalous gold assays, and anomalous Carlin-type trace elements, in the soils above the broken blocks. It was the targeting of the margins of broken carbonate blocks that drove the successful drill campaign at the Long Canyon gold deposit in the Pequop Gold District.

The initial ten holes of the program (totaling 1,274.1 meters (4,180 feet) completed in late November 2011) confirm these indications. Hole WHS11-007 intersected an oxidized 10.7 meter (35feet) interval from 83.8 to 94.5 meters down hole that averaged 0.40 g/t (0.013 opt) gold within an approximately 60 meters (197 feet) zone of anomalous Carlin-style pathfinder elements and gold. This mineralization occurs in silty limestones and dolomites with iron oxides and silicification just above an altered and mineralized intrusive. Holes WHS11-001, 002, 003, 005, and 006, which were widely spaced to test other targets, also contain narrow intervals of anomalous gold and favorable pathfinder elements. Other than holes WHS11-009 and 010, the overburden was less than 60 meters (197 feet) thick.

Richard Bedell President and CEO for RenGold comments, "This drilling is very significant as it is similar to the mineralization in the adjacent Pequop Gold District. Targeting was originally based on regional magnetic data that defines the extent and orientation of Eocene aged intrusives responsible, in part, for the distribution of mineralization in the Pequop Gold District. The drilling results suggest that the Pequop Gold District could grow to the southwest into the Woods Hills South property given how small the footprint of the current gold resources (West Pequop and Long Canyon) are, compared to most other Carlin-style gold districts in Nevada."

NuLegacy plans on completing the remaining 10 holes of this initial reconnaissance drill program to explore for other areas of favorable gold mineralization within the project.  Additional geophysics and geochemistry are being planned for 2012 to better define controls of this mineralization and establish other drill targets.
