TAITUNG, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Once again, the isle of Formosa is calling all beach lovers to unite this year for an exciting world-class surfing contest at Taitung County this November: Be in for the local spearfish season and indulge in the surfers’ lifestyle. So think foam. Think food. Think fun.
Earlier this year, the Taiwan Balloon Fiesta attracted an unprecedented amount of tourists and was responsible for flooding the Internet with photos of hot air balloons. However, Taitung’s legend won’t end just there. This time, the host county is set to send further shock waves along its ace coastline. Offering lucrative prizes, recruiting the best judges and featuring the highest number of world-champion surfers from around the world, the 2012 Taiwan Open of Surfing is a sensation that no one should miss.
The 2012 Taiwan Open of Surfing will run from November 14 through 18 at Jinzun, Taitung County. The top-level surfing competition will be overseen by a select group of first-class international judges who will be observing professional male and female surfers from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Indonesia and New Zealand – all rivaling for prizes that total a stunning NT$600,000 (US$20,700).
The event will also shine with the stardom of Taiwan’s very own surfer-celebrity Richie Ren, who is keen to join the audience in sampling Taitung’s beautiful waves and cuisine on the official opening day of November 15. Female long-board surfer Zhou Wen-ling, the first Taiwanese professional surfer to have ever received ranking from the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), will also be competing to keep the trophy in the country and is calling all surf lovers to gather and cheer for her at the championships.
Don’t forget, the 2012 Taiwan Open of Surfing takes place from November 14 through 18 at Jinzun, Taitung County, where surf lessons, bazaars and live music await you.
