White Rock, British Columbia CANADA, February 27, 2012 /FSC/ - Renaissance Gold Inc. (REN - TSX), ("RenGold") is pleased to announce the rapid resumption of drilling, at its Wood Hills South gold exploration project, Elko County, Nevada, in response to significant results just released in NR12-4 on February 6th of this year. The drilling program operated by NuLegacy Gold Corp. (NUG:TSXV) is continuing the second half of a planned 20 hole drill program designed to broadly test a region greater than 35 sq. km in a shallow pediment area
The first 10 holes produced 8 holes with anomalous gold and trace elements. Importantly, hole WHS11-007 intersected an oxidized 10.7 meter (35 feet) interval from 83.8 to 94.5 meters down hole that averaged 0.40 g/t (0.013 opt) gold within an approximate 60 meter (197 feet) zone of anomalous Carlin-style pathfinder elements and gold. The intervening valley that exists now between this project and the evolving Pequop Gold District was largely created after the time of mineralization. This hole is very significant because when the valley is removed from the analysis it becomes adjacent to the evolving Pequop Gold District and the key magnetic features align as well as the geology.
A key feature of the Pequop District at the Long Canyon deposit is the mineralization located between broken blocks of dolomite. Within these broken areas, along with the gold, are many intrusive dikes. These holes at Wood Hills South were targeted to test breaks interpreted from induced polarization data and coincident soil anomalies. The fact that WHS11-07 also intersected altered and mineralized intrusive is important. The chemistry found is "Carlin-like" and a possible extension of the Pequop Gold District.
The remaining drill program will test similar anomalies. In addition, continued work in March will include microgravity and infill soil sampling to follow up on hole WHS11-007.
Richard Bedell President and CEO for RenGold comments, "We are very happy to see that our partners at NuLegacy, managed by Dr. Roger Steininger, understand the importance of these first results and are continuing the program so soon."
