Android 7.0 Nougat Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Update Imminent After Wi-Fi Alliance Certification

CyanogenMod 14.1 nighties are becoming available for a number of smartphones.

Smartphones are not the only devices updating to Android 7.0 Nougat. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet should also soon begin receiving Google’s latest software. The Wi-Fi Alliance recently posted its certification for the Galaxy Tab S2 on various carriers, including Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular.

Such certification tests how well Wi-Fi operates on the coming software update and often means devices are close to a rollout. Proper Wi-Fi functionality is especially important for tablets, considering that many run only Wi-Fi for connectivity.

Samsung has also confirmed the Galaxy Tab S2 is among its devices, which will update to Android 7.0 Nougat. Additionally, the tablet has been spotted on benchmark websites running Android 7.0.

The Galaxy Tab S2 is a premium tablet released by Samsung in 2015 running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It has since updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The Galaxy Tab S2 comes in several sizes, including 8.0-inch and 9.7-inch models.

The Galaxy S7 Active, an AT&T exclusive device, has also been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
